Visitor guidelines

Flowers, decorations + courtesy

A few simple rules keep the grounds safe for everyone and let our crew mow without damaging anything you leave.

Fresh flowers

Welcome all year in the vase built into your marker or in a spiked ground vase placed against the stone. Wilted flowers are cleared every Monday.

Artificial flowers + wreaths

Permitted November 1 to April 15. Seasonal wreaths and saddles are removed after April 15 so spring cleanup can begin.

Not permitted

Glass containers, solar lights in the heritage sections, fencing or borders, planting of trees or shrubs, and anything attached to a neighbouring stone.

During a funeral: please give the family space. Pause your car if a procession passes, and keep music and phone calls away from any graveside service.

Questions

Visiting FAQ

Can't find your answer? Call the Lodge at (519) 555-0147.

Can I bring my dog?+

Yes, on a leash of 2 metres or less, and please pick up after them. Dogs are not permitted in the Memorial Garden or during services.

Can I drive to a grave?+

Yes. Paved lanes reach every section and you may park on the lane edge, keeping two wheels on the pavement. The speed limit is 15 km/h and funeral processions always have the right of way.

Is there a washroom?+

Accessible washrooms are in the Lodge, open during office hours. A seasonal washroom near the Memorial Garden is open May to October during gate hours.

Can I take photographs?+

Personal photography is welcome. Please do not photograph funerals or mourners. Commercial and wedding photography needs a permit from the office ($75).

Can I do a gravestone rubbing?+

No. Rubbings can damage soft and weathered stone. Our "Reading Old Stones" workshop and the genealogy team can show you safer ways to read an inscription.

Where can I get water for flowers?+

Water taps with watering cans are marked on the grounds map and run from mid-April to mid-October.
