About
Who we are
A small non-profit with a long memory: nine staff, a volunteer board of seven and ninety volunteers, looking after 42 acres and 11,400 people.
Not owned by anyone
Hollowmere Cemetery Company was incorporated in 1871 as a non-profit, and it has never had shareholders. Every dollar from sales and services goes back into the cemetery. Our board is elected each June by the lot holders: anyone who owns interment rights here has a vote.
Cared for, permanently
Ontario law requires us to put part of every sale into a care and maintenance trust. Only the interest can be spent, on upkeep. Our fund is held by an independent trust company and audited every year. At the end of 2025 it held $8.4 million.
Our promise
We publish every price. We never use commission-based sales staff. We will never pressure a grieving family to decide anything on the day they call, and no family is turned away for inability to pay.
